Platelet Rich Plasma – PRP

What is PRP treatment?

A Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) face treatment, also known as a Vampire facial, is an advanced skin treatment that is great for skin rejuvenation. It’s a treatment that uses your own blood platelets to stimulate new cell growth, helping to improve your complexion and skin texture.

The healing effects of platelet-rich plasma are caused by growth factors released from the platelets of the patient’s own blood, which cause a healing response.

Platelet Rich Plasma uses:

  • Skin Ageing – treatment of ageing and damaged skin, naturally increasing dermal elasticity as well as improving the tone and texture of the skin
  • Alopecia (Hereditary Hair Loss) – increasing hair density and hair diameter
  • Scarring and tissue healing – reducing the severity of scars, promoting the healthy healing – stimulation of new tissue formation and faster healing after laser treatment

Is PRP treatment safe?

Overall, PRP is an especially safe treatment option with no risk of allergic reaction because it is your own blood. However, anytime a needle is placed in the body, there is a risk of infection, bleeding, and nerve damage. These risks do not happen often and are very rare. Other risks depend on the area being treated.

Since PRP uses your own blood, you should not have a reaction to it. Studies have noted that PRP has been found to have a positive effect on male and female pattern hair loss without major adverse side effects.

The biological regeneration of your collagen and skin tissue is a natural process that can be enhanced with the use of your own PRP.
