The Power Couple
Are you concerned about your congested skin or frequent breakouts?
Cleansing and Exfoliation
At M Clinic/ID SKIN Company we recommend regular cleansing and exfoliation to support healthy skin function, and as an effective way to tackle a variety of skin concerns.
Find out how keeping the skin clean and exfoliated can help you achieve a healthy, smooth and clear complexion.
The Benefits of Cleansing
A good facial cleanser is the foundation of any winning skincare routine. Starting a daily routine of washing your face with a facial cleanser will keep your skin healthy and refreshed. We love @intraceuticals Rejuvenate Gentle Cleanser.
It’s imperative to remove any build-up of oil, dirt and debris to keep the pores clean.
Daily cleansing boosts hydration by managing PH levels of the skin; whilst helping to minimise the overproduction of excess oils. Cleansing allows for sufficient product absorption, water and product retention.
The Benefits of Exfoliation
Regular exfoliation is an integral part of our skincare routine it involves the removal of the oldest dead skin cells on the skin’s outermost surface.
By removing the dead skin we produce we can then reveal a smoother texture, unblock and tighten pores, fade acne scarring, reduce the appearance of fine lines and brighten the overall appearance of the skin.
Exfoliated skin will further assist with product penetration allowing all your favourite skincare products to work more efficiently.
There are three different ways in which we can exfoliate.
One method is with a mechanical scrub that uses peeling bodies to take off the upper layers of the skin. Often referred to as a granular scrub.
The second is enzyme peeling (such as @Intraceuticals Enzyme Exfoliant) which performs a gentle but deep exfoliation using a combination of Carnauba, Beeswax and Bamboo beads.
Lastly, we have chemical exfoliants, such as Glycolic acid, which dissolves dead skin cells and oils. Glycolic acid can also help boost collagen production and support skin moisture.
Another effective acid is Salicylic acid, a great way to soften the skin and tighten the pores. Often a preferred option for treating acne as it can reduce inflammation and redness, unblocking pores. Both Salicylic Acid and Glycolic Acid, are two popular examples of chemical exfoliants to effectively resurface and smooth the skin.
These particular peels we use in the clinic when performing the ever-popular HYDRA FACIAL treatments, both have a safe track record and don’t induce any scaling effects.
Your skin type and needs are the main indicators for how often and which type of cleanser and exfoliation method you should be opting for.
